Projects

Upstream oil and gas industry from field development to underground natural gas storage along with energy and power plants are the main areas of interest to KOGC. Here are some highlights of the projects which KOGC has been envolved, recently.

Project: Sepehr Oil Field Development

Client: Arvandan oil and gas Co. for NIOC

Contract Type: Buy Back (Service Contract)

Project Execution Duration: 43 months

Project location: Khuzestan province- Iran

KOGC started the Sepehr Oil Field Development project as its first attempt in the area of oil field development. According to the information gathered from the first exploration well, the volume of the oil in place in this field is estimated to be more than 1670 Million Barrels and, assuming a recovery factor of 10%, 167 Million Barrels could be produced within 35 years. Recovery of the investment is expected within 10 years.

The Field is planned to be developed in two phases. During first phase of the development, an early production stage was considered to produce 4000 Barrels/day through 2 wells. Meanwhile, 3D seismic is to be performed for the purpose of completion of the field study. In the 2nd stage of the first phase, 4 more production wells will be drilled to produce 11000 Barrels/day.

By the end of the first phase, 15000 Barrels/day will be transferred to the production unit via surface facilities and pipe lines.

Project: Yurt-e-Sha Underground Natural Gas Storage

Client: Natural Gas Storage Company

Contract Type: BOT

Project Execution Duration: 40 months

Project location: Central Iran

KOGC, in cooperation with some local and international partners, has investigated the potential for underground gas storage in the Yurt-e-Sha geological structure in central Iran. Based on information provided by the client, the structure may have the capacity to store more than 500 Million Cubic Meters of natural gas. Yurt-e-Sha is an aquifer which needs to be depleted first and then, with proper wells and surface facilities, should be able to store natural gas to be used as needed.

Project: Investment, build and operation of oil products storage tanks

Client: Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Organiziation

The project is considered as KOGC first step in the oil and gas downstream, in the field of commissioning and operation services.

KOGC supplied the management and specialist teams in different disciplines for commissioning, maintenance and operation of the EPC2 ( Utility facilities and Processing units of the onshore refinery). It provided the required tools, materials and consumables for the period of early 2012 to Jan. 2013.

Project: Kermanshah Power Plant

Client: Exporting Electricity to IRAQ

Contract Type: Build, Operate and Owned (BOO)

Contract Period: 20 years

Construction Period: 3 Years

Site Location: Kermanshah Province – Sar-e Pol-e Zahab or Gilan-e Gharb

Investment Partner: North, South Energy Development Company

This power plant, with the capacity of 500 MW, is designated to export electricity to IRAQ via connecting to the national grid. It consists of two gas turbines, one heat recovery steam generation unit and one steam turbine to generate electricity out of pipeline gas combustion. Considering that electricity will be exported to Iraqi’s market, some technical, financial, legal and economic issues would be different from the existing power plants in the country. These considerations have been observed since the early days of the project. Kayson Company and Iran’s Investment Company are going to invest in this project in the coming stages.

Project: Gol-e Gohar Power Plant

Client: Sirjan Gohar Energy Company to utilizes Gol-e gohar industrial and mining complex

Contract Type: Build, Operate and Owned (BOO)

Contract Period: 20 years

Construction Period: 3 Years

Site Location: Kerman Province – Sirjan, Shiraz Road

Investment Partner: North, South Energy Development Company

This power plant with the capacity of 500 MW is designated to provide part of the Gol-e gohar industrial and mining complex with electricity via connection to the national grid. It mainly includes two gas turbines, one heat recovery steam generation unit and one steam turbine to generate electricity out of pipeline gas combustion. Considering that electricity will be sold to private sector clients, some technical, financial and legal issues like mutual trust between client and supplier, and also forming long term cooperation, would be different from the existing power plants in the country. These considerations have been observed from the early days of the project.

Project: Bandar Abbas Desalination Plant

Client: Asia Water Development Company

Contract Type: Build, Operate and Own (BOO)

Contract Period: 20 years

Construction Period: 3 Years

Site Location: Horozgan Province – Bandar Abbas

Investment Partner: North, South Energy Development Company

This project involves constructing a giant desalination plant using sea water, and will be one of the biggest desalination plants in the world. The capacity that we are aiming for is 400,000 cubic meters per day, but will increase to 1,000,000 cubic meters per day in the future. Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology is the preferred technology for this part of the project. The required facilities for sea water intake and outfall, and also the power plant to provide electricity for the RO plant, are out of the scope of this project and will provided by the client.
